Is Detroit Really That Bad???
I have been reading a lot of BS on Facebook this week, and it got me thinking.

If you haven't seen it, GooBing Detroit posted some before and after pictures showing Detroit's decline.  Gizmodo picked it up.  So did some conservative websites.

I AM NOT DEBATING whether Detroit has it's challenges.  WHAT I AM OUT TO PROVE is that the news out of Detroit isn't as bad as you are led to believe.  There is development here, and there are some good stories.  Armed with 45 minutes and a sleeping family, I was able to compile 4 "before/after" pictures that show better things in Detroit.

On top of the great new developments in the city that haven't been photographed yet, here are a couple.  If you want to find some other favorable Before and after, please email me the photos at the3wows@gmail.com

Nice apartment building being built to replace Ronald McDonalds childhood home.

The Auburn:  A 58 unit apartment building with shopping to boot.  While it will most likely be filled with hipsters, they will probably pay the rent (and then complain that the rent is too high).

Gateway Marketplace is a new development in Detroit.  IN an area that had little shopping, this new shopping center allows Detroiters to shop in their neighborhood...not out in the suburbs.

This isn't a great improvement, but this is pretty important.  While the offending blog cherry picked locations that got worse over time in Detroit, I can cherry pick locations that got better over time.

As you can see from the first picture, the house is boarded up...second picture shows he house to be occupied...also looks like people are taking better care of their lawns.

i cropped out the guy in front of his van....sure he would appreciate it.
